Two Greedy Italians S01E01 - The Family

Chefs Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo tour Italy to discover how their home country's culture has changed since they left more than 40 years ago, and how this has affected the way the population eats. Beginning in Emilia Romagna, the home of prosciutto and parmesan cheese, the pair have Sunday lunch with a traditional family, before meeting a group of career women in Bologna who do not cook at home any more.

  • What an absolutely fantastical thing to come upon on the internet. I fell in love with this documentary and these two warm, vivacious, robust, lifelong friends sharing their food and families with the rest of the world. This is an A++++ production, and it warmed this small little Americans heart watching it. Not too mention a longing for his Italian roots that my family most likely once had similar to these before they rode the boat to New York at the genesis of the previous century. Bravo, and thank you gentlemen!!

Very intresting indeed( I think he would approve) ,and I feel a bit better since his sad passing.Because in the UK I was lucky to have watched his early tv shows in the '90's.Carluccio and Floyyd were and still are very formulative for me. They still live in these excellent programmes and their other works :^)

  • Everyone should know to cook for themselves at least. There’s nothing better than cooking for yourself to suit your tastebuds using the best ingredients you could get your hands on rather than wasting money on restaurants. But I do think people expecting all women to cook for family and do chores is pretty sexist and that sort of ideology don’t belong in this day and age. Also you shouldn’t judge them for not knowing how to cook.

  • Yeah I BET the men find it sad that "the old days are no more". Nothing symbolizes weakness more than young men not being able to care for themselves because they cant cook. Yes, knowing how to cook is important and its important that we keep our cooking traditions and cooking with fresh ingredients -- as important for the men as it is for the women.
